Who manages the Laboratory of Archaeology (LOA)?

The general operation of the Laboratory of Archaeology (LOA) is overseen by a committee of permanent archaeology faculty, and visiting postdoctoral fellows who are members of the Department of Anthropology or the Classical, Near Eastern and Religious Studies (CNERS) Department. Day-to-day operations are handled by the Archaeology Curatorial/Research Assistant under the supervision of the Director of the LOA.

  • The Director of LOA and is appointed by the archaeology faculty on the LOA Committee and reports to the Head of the Department of Anthropology. Ideally, the Director is appointed annually, on a rotating basis, and helps to administer the general operation of the LOA.
  • The Curator of Pulblic Archaeology is responsible for matters dealing with Archaeology in MOA and the relations between LOA and MOA. The Curator also reports to the Director of MOA, and provides a liason between MOA the LOA Committee.
