Graduate Support Initiative Awards (GSI)

Graduate Support Initiative Awards (GSI) is a new system for funding graduate students (which replaces the PhD Tuition Award). Eligibility for GSI awards follow existing Faculty of Graduate Studies practices, complete details of which can be found by clicking here. Please note, students do not apply for GSI. Students receiving GSI will be notified by the Department. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will assign GSI awards on the Student Information System, as other awards.

Criteria by which GSI funds will be allocated in the Department of Anthropology (after prior endorsement from the Faculty of Graduate Studies) are noted below:

1) First priority of these funds will be given to students conducting fieldwork who have been advanced to candidacy and have no major funding (i.e. SSHRC or equivalent).

2) Second priority of these funds will be given to incoming PhD students.
