Procedures for Graduation (after Thesis Submission)
1. The student applies online to graduate for either November or May Convocation (To Application for Graduation).
2. Students finish degree requirements. This normally involves completion of all course work and a major paper or thesis (some professional programs require no thesis work)
3. The department confirms student has completed degree requirements by sending in a degree completion memo created by the department to signify the student has completed the program, indicating the date the graduating student's program was completed.
4. Departments enter standing for final course work if needed, or send this information to Grad Studies for entry. Departments then clean up any outstanding grades in the student's record.
5. FoGS enters all of the thesis receipts, degree completion memos and final grades. Students' programs are closed on the date listed on the forms. Students are responsible for all fee payments up to the date the program is closed.
6. FoGS sends out lists to departments that contain the names of all of their students that have applied to graduate. The departments look over the list and indicate who is going to graduate. The department and FoGS then track down all of the missing courses, grades, etc to make a final graduation list. Graduation list submitted to Enrollment Services so a program can be made.
7. Students walk across the stage in November or May and receive their degrees.
