UBCcards are issued at the UBC Carding Office in the UBC Bookstore. The Bookstore is open Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 11 AM to 5 PM with extended hours in August and September. Visit www.bookstore.ubc.ca for a schedule of the bookstores extended hours. News and Contact Information
Mailboxes
Current graduate students share mailboxes outside the AnSo Main Office. Mailboxes are arranged in alphabetically order with red lettering designating students in the Anthropology programs and blue designating students in the Sociology programs.
UBC Email Account
Information on how to set up a UBC Netinfo/Interchange email account is available at https://web.interchange.ubc.ca/.
You can check your email account from any internet connection through the myUBC web site (www.my.ubc.ca); however, in order to do so, you will need to set up a Campus Wide Login (CWL). This can be done through the CWL website (http://www.cwl.ubc.ca/).
Anth News and Other Mailing Lists
The anth news list-serve provides graduate students with information about upcoming talks, scholarships, grad society meetings, and goings on in the department. The department Anth News is issued weekly monthly and is distributed to grad students through the anth news list-serve.
In order to subscribe to Anth News send an e-mail to anth.head(at)ubc.ca. For future contributions, send to anth.head(at)ubc.ca. When sending in publications or presentations info, please follow the format used in "American Anthropologist", found at http://www.aaanet.org/publications/style_guide.pdf
Other lists you may wish to subscribe to are:

- other groups through the GSS (go to www.gss.ubc.ca/mailman/listinfo/)
Grad Bulletin Boards
Information distributed by the Grad Office and through Anth News is posted on either the Grad Events/Info bulletin board across from the Main Office or the Awards/Employment bulletin board across the department mailroom entrance. If you do not wish to subscribe to Anth News, please make sure to check these bulletin boards regularly to stay informed.
Registering for Courses
To determine what courses you are required to take, please have a look at the appropriate (i.e., Anthropology or Sociology) program of study guidelines as well as the list of courses found in the 'Info for Current Student' sections of this web site. Below are quicklinks to the appropriate pages:
- Program of Study:
- List of Courses
With the help of your supervisor, you should then be able to plan your program of study (i.e., what courses you will need for your program) on your program record. If you have not already contacted your (temporary) supervisor, please do so. If you don't know who this is, please e-mail me, and I will let you know.
