Current Projects:
I am currently working on my Master’s project in collaboration with the Gitxaala Environmental Monitoring Agency (GEM) in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. My research examines the development of the Gitxaala marine use management plan as part of the Pacific Northwest Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA) process. I am exploring how cultural identity, traditional ecological knowledge, and power are presented and navigated as different members of
the Gitxaala community and outside stakeholders work to create a joint marine use management plan. This project is part of Dr. Charles Menzies larger Laxyuup Gitxaala project.
