Research Interests: Include diamond mining and international organizations in Eastern Siberia, focusing on issues related to resource politics and questions of indigeneity. Susan recieved a BA (2003) in Anthropology and English Literature and an MA (2005) in Comparative Education, both from the University of Pittsburgh. Her MA thesis, based on fieldwork conducted in Eastern Siberia, was entitled, "Educating for Ethnicity: Local Cultural Vitality Amongst the Challenges of Globalization in the Post-Soviet Sakha Republic (Yakutia)." Her current project, which will hopefully become her dissertation, is entitled: "Becoming Indigenous: Diamond Mining, International Organizations and the emergence of Indigenous Identity in Eastern Siberia."
