Getting Started in the ANSO Undergraduate Computer Lab
The department provides an up-to-date computer lab for use of Undergraduate students
for educational and research purposes. The lab is located in the
basement of the ANSO building. You must be a registered student or
current faculty to have an account. If you do not have an account, please complete
the account request form (available in the Main Office).
The Undergraduate/Research lab offers the following software:
- Windows XP SP2
- OpenOffice 2.4
- Microsoft Office 2007
- Word Perfect Office 12
- Netscape 7.2, IE 6, Firefox 3.6.12
- SPSS 15.0
- Adobe Reader X
- WS_FTP LE
- PowerDVD
- Endnote 7
- Phonetics
In addition, there is a scanner station the the Grad Lab for full-colour scanning, which include
the following:
- Adobe Streamline 4
- Adobe Acrobat Distiller 3
- Scanner software for HP 6200C (running USB)
There is a black and white printer for public use. The printer has copying and scanning capabilities. Pages are printed
for 10¢ each. It requires a printing account. To set up an account, visit the Anthropology Main Office in ANSO 2104 between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm. You will need your student ID card and $5 cash (minimum; no maximum) to set up your account.
Assistance with printing and copying is available from the Main Office during regular office hours. The computer lab itself can be accessed anytime the building is open (usually between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm), but the lab itself does not close at any particular time.
